TaylorFade Posted June 7, 2013 Report Posted June 7, 2013 Testing a Tantric LD 12 in the CRX. This is their 2" coil, 400w sub taking triple rated on a burp. Pretty decent number for 1200w or so. Did some rated power testing too. Wired the M1 to 8ohm nominal. 502w rising to 30ohms. Lol. Anyway... did 148.6 on that 500w. Very nice for 500w and single 12. And these are a very inexpensive woofer. Here's some pics of the little guy. This is a 10", but you get the idea. I just tested the 12 becasue I always use that same burp box. A 10" in my 10" rig is actually louder than this 12" burp box.

Every model 12 has been in that box. I did 500W and 1k on the HD, but the rest of them got beat to hell and back.

TaylorFade Posted June 10, 2013 Author Report Posted June 10, 2013 The HD was a low 149 on 500w. An 52.3 on 1k, iirc. That's just motor force coming into play. But not far off. Higher power is where the larger subs start to shine. The LD started thermal compression around the 1.2k mark. The MD (2.5" coil, 750w) took 3k like a champ and did 54.9. There's a vid on my YT of a 54.7. I used the MD's to win finals and set a record. The HD (3" coil, 1,500w), I've done more testing with the 10's. 53 isn't much of a problem with a single HD10. The HDD (3" coil, 2,500w), I can do 56 with a single. And The SHD... Well... I've yet to tap its potential. It's a monster and doesn't much like this teeny tiny box. It's a 4" coil, 5,000w sub that weighs like 120lbs. I don't like moving that bish around. Lol.

But so far, nothing has metered higher than my z v.3. Not like... drop in comparisons in the same box on the same power. Well... none that I'm going to post about. But you know I've tried my fair share of subs. A bunch of local guys have made the switch to Tantric though so there is a lot of drop in results. But that's all anecdotal and too many factors come into play. I prefer to just do my thing with Tantric and not "compare" them to anything else. Some subs work better in certain setups. We all know that. If the Zv3 is doing good work, no need to change it up.

But always wanting to try different ones. So watt for watt, I assume the hdd got louder than the hd?
