Could anoyone help me with designing a ported sub box for 2 12" Kicker Comp R's (Dual 2 ohm)?

the budget isnt an issue

Im looking to really hit the lows

what would be better, rectangular port or a round port?

what is better, 2 ports on each side, 1 port on left or right, or 1 port in the middle?

does it matter what type of wood i use? if so, what kinds can i use, or what is the best kind?

I drive a 1999 Chrysler Sebring soft top convertable

Max trunk dims. :32W 17.5D 16H (inches). I can put it in the backseat if needed, those dims are 45W 25D 32H (inches)

If i do put it in the back seat, should i face it going to the trunk? (i have leather seats)

Amp: Kicker DX 1000.1 (might upgrade to Kicker 40KX1600.1) <--will that change anything about the box?

kicker says to have the box 1.75-2.25 ft3 PER SUB, so that would be 3.5-4.5 ft3 total..right?

Im not sure if any of this info will help, but i figure the more info the better :

frequency response 25-500 Hz,

top mount depth:5-3/4",

cutout diameter: 11"

No shallow mount installation

Fs:32.6 Hz

I hope I covered it all, if you can supply me with a diagram of the box i will be making that would be perfect

if you cant answer all the questions thats not a problem, but if you have an answer to any of them I would be happy to hear it.

You can't do a proper spec for those subs in that space, so the following won't be that great if you decide to build it, also the backseat box won't be great either, the best way is to plan your sub purchases based on your available space, a single really cool 15" might have worked better in your case. Really sanded inner edges on the ends on the ports:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 35 Hz
Vb = 3.7 ft^3

External Height = 16 in
External Width = 32 in
External Depth = 17.5 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.
* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

Front & Back = 32 x 16

Left & Right Sides = 16 x 14 1/2

Top & Bottom = 32 x 16

Port Quantity and Dimensions:

Number of Ports = 2
Pipe Port Diameter = 4
Pipe Port Length = 11 3/4
External Length = 2

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

Important notes:

- The 45s if you want to do them are 2 1/2" wide except the one/ones inside the port, if you want that let me know.

- All boxes built outside the vehicle need to fit in their way in not just have the right dimensions.

- This box should be operated around subwoofer(s) rated power. If that´s not the case, let me know.

- The port needs 0" of free airspace in front of it for proper operation.

- Setting your amp subsonic filter to 28Hz is suggested.

Ok, not any 15" but one that works nice on your space like the Sundown Zv3 15, many others...

im lookin at getting the 15" Comp R

good news is I could get the funds for it, my coworker has been wanting to buy these subs along with the amp off me.

His trunk is 41W 15D H13.5

would i be able to make a box with the proper specs for his trunk?

before you also said "This box should be operated around subwoofer(s) rated power. If that´s not the case, let me know."

the subs run at 1600 watts rms, the amp only puts out 1000watts rms.

He can't do 2 12s in that space, only one, you can do the compR 15" but it probably won't overtake the two 12s as far as output goes, besides it will likely not perform great on the 3.7 cubes you have, just fair.
