Extratrespl Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 Just got thease babies fom my unlocal san antonio dealer (good guy thats why i go so far to get the best deals) anyways i am very impressed with the design and ruggedness of these subwoofers WOW!! Ive had some db drive k9 2000's (1000) rms and to me they cant even hold a candle to these bad boys.. anywho here is my general question lol I had a hifonics colossus 3k take a crap on me not to long ago (2 days) and i was scared to crap that it might of damaged the speakers!! After closer inspection the subwoofers were fine tested them with a extra amp I had laying around just to see if they turned on and they were still jamming hard.. that still wasnt good enough for me so i took them out inspected the coil no nothing burnt!! My last and final test was the most confusing so here it goes i test them with my multimeter and just one sub reads 2.3 ohms per channel and 1.5 ohms bridged??? Is there some absolute remote chance i may have grabbed a 2 ohm in a 4 ohm box?? or are the coils damaged ?? ( It sounds fine ) Too Bass Or Not To Bass
Wicks Posted June 21, 2013 Report Posted June 21, 2013 Do you mean: "one sub reads 2.3 ohms per coil and 1.5 ohms both coils paralleled???" What does the other sub measure? With nothing connected, touch the DMM probes together and see that they measure. Then subtract that from your measurements for a more accurate number. It does sound like that sub you mention is a D2 though...
