TheDrunkenMaster Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 So i've noticed that my dash lights dim, especially when the lights dim... I've not done the big 3 since i'm not really sure how it is done on a 01 Chevy Cavalier, is this because of a weak battery? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
Lbox88 Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 I had issues with my '98 malibu, turned out to be a super shitty stock ground. Do your big 3, have your battery tested at autozone to get rough numbers. UBL | Build Log
Lbox88 Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 This is what was happening with my bad ground/low voltage. UBL | Build Log
TheDrunkenMaster Posted June 25, 2013 Author Report Posted June 25, 2013 Yeah that's pretty much what i see, only its more apparent at night when I have my lights on. Is there any video tutorials on how to switch the big three in my car, I've looked around YouTube and google, and there's tons letting you know what they are but now how to change them. Any help again, is more than appreciated. Thanks
Lbox88 Posted June 25, 2013 Report Posted June 25, 2013 Big Three is fairly easy, look for lordarcane on here, his cavy build is around here somewhere. UBL | Build Log
Swampy Posted June 29, 2013 Report Posted June 29, 2013 I would definitely check that you have a good enough ground, if in doubt make a better one. That's always a great place to start. A bad ground causes a "bottle neck" where the current flow coming from power wire is greater than the current going through the ground wire. This causes more of a strain on the electrical system, especially if you haven't done the big 3 yet to enhance you vehicles overall electrical system. It causes an unnecessary voltage drop in the electrical system which is when things start to fry. I don't claim to know how to solve anything, I just practice the basics. There is nothing worse than wasting hours over a problem that should have taken 5 mins. Anything I post and claim to know, I know simply because of a lesson learned from a mistake on my part.
