My way of lookin at box rise

Recommended Posts

You logic is off.

It has been explained a million times. Not going to do it again, but I will post this one thing for you:

This is the impedance plot for this driver NOT even in a box:

midsplplot.jpg

That big rise is at the drivers Fs. Does that mean the driver is not as loud at Fs? Nope.

Does this plot show us that if you play 200 Hz your amp will only see a little over 4 ohms? Yep.

So once again, does it matter that the impedance is so high at Fs? Nope.

Tell your friend impedance rise is one of the most misunderstood things in car audio and if he is just playing music on a daily system he can erase the term from his memory.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.
