Amp Trouble

So recently my amp has been turning on and off randomly and it does it like every 5-15 seconds or so and just keeps doing it.

I checked all my fuses and connections and they are all fine.

Any help would be much appreciated.

what amp.

what subs.

did you change anything recently.

how much is your voltage dropping.

put a dmm to the power and ground terminals of the amp while this issue is occurring. report back with the DC voltage numbers.

since they're d4 i assume you're wiring down to 1 ohm? thats fine...

maybe one of the coils blew and its messing with the amp? while you have that dmm, set it to ohms (if its not auto ranging, set it to a number that is the next largest number nearest 4, usually its like "20" or something).

touch the two dmm leads together and see if a number pops up on the screen. if so, subtract that number from the following readings you get from the voice coils. if its says 0, then dont worry about it. so if touching the leads gives you .5 on the screen, and you get a 4.5 ohm reading on the screen when measuring the coils, then its actually 4 ohms. that .5 is the meters internal resistance.

unplug all speaker wires from the woofer terminals (and from the amp just to be safe) and measure each voice coils impedance (you have 4, 2 in each woofer). if they read somewhere like 3.5-4.5 you should be fine. if it varies from that greatly (no reading at all or a very high number) then the coil is blown and you will need a new woofer/woofers.
