Mechman Alternators

Recommended Posts

I think you meant smaller diameter pulley....

If you're using the larger diameter manufacturer's pulley, the new alternator won't spin as fast and thus, won't generate its rated current. That said, it will still out perform the factory alternator.

What's the motivation for using the old pulley? Is the current belt too long and you don't want to buy a shorter one? Just curious...

I ordered it and didnt think about it until they installed it. It doesnt slip or anything i just wanna know is it worth it to get one because to take my alternator out was like 5 hrs they had to remove the radiator and all that

We recommend a shorter premium belt for optimum traction. A high output alternator will slip some on a already worn belt

Jdollarthegreat... email GATES BELTS and tell them the model of your vehicle , ask them you need a belt half inch shorter than the one you have now , they are pretty quick in getting back to you with the belt model number.. i hope this will help.

i did it to my chevy astro when i first got my hybrid 320ho alt..
