brendan127 Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Okay so I bought some new speakers from Amazon for my 98 Jeep Cherokee. They are Rockford Fosgate R1525X2's and I put them in the rear and connected with some connectors I got from crutchfield. I have stock speakers in the front doors and an old JVC KD-G510 head unit. When I have the volume on my iPod up pretty good and the volume on the head unit from 33 or so to 40+(maxes at 50) the sound cuts out when the bass is hitting. If I have the volume at 30 and my iPod all the way up everything seems to run smoothly. Do I need aftermarket speakers for the front doors as well, maybe a new HU?
brendan127 Posted July 5, 2013 Author Report Posted July 5, 2013 I got back in the jeep later, and it seems to have gone away I didn't make it as loud, but I was playing around 35 without any cutting out with the jeep running, I didn't try it not running.

Sutliff Posted July 5, 2013 Report Posted July 5, 2013 Could his deck be getting hot pushing 4-ohm into OEM front door speakers that are likely 2-ohm, while running the RF's at 4-ohm in the back? Clipping itself when needing to draw power? Plus, keep the volume down a tad from full-tilt on your iPod, etc. ... Along the lines of a gain control that you do not want cranked all the way up. Let the lower volume & headunit do the work for you ... if not loud enough, then time to step up to external amps, etc. Or maybe a higher wattage headunit. brendan127 Posted July 5, 2013 Author Report Posted July 5, 2013 A guy from crutchfield had some crutchfield research stuff on the Cherokee and he said the stock speakers are 4 ohm, I don't get any cut out while driving so far, only while sitting off, and sometimes sitting running. But it didn't happen the last time I was listening. Maybe it's time I upgrade the old jvc to a pioneer I'm looking at.

brendan127 Posted July 6, 2013 Author Report Posted July 6, 2013 I tied it with the jeep off again and it still cuts out when the jeep is off, the highest I can raise it too is 28.
brendan127 Posted July 6, 2013 Author Report Posted July 6, 2013 Checked the connections and they seem to be good and don't come loose as far as I can tell. Like I said they are stock adapters for the speakers they click into the jeeps connector and slide onto the speaker posts.

brendan127 Posted July 6, 2013 Author Report Posted July 6, 2013 Oh I haven't looked at that, but like I said it doesn't cut if I fade it to front or rear. And also it doesn't cut if I were to put stock rear speakers back in, the change happened when I put the new speakers in.
