I agree with john253a 1000%. After I had purchased my equipment I was at about 300 in. I purchased the head unit he listed and could not be happier. It has all the features you are describing to get the sound you are looking for. For your front doors go with the speakers he listed then that will be right at your initial budget. Get rid of the factory amp because that will be the major downfall of any after market upgrades. The best way to build a system on a tight budget is to do it in stages. Hope that helps. The good ones will blow most of your budget but like we all said do it in stages. Check out sonic electronics. I just wish i had a funny sig. You'll have to also add final amplification after it because it's a preamp level device. It will allow you to boost or attenuate the existing signal but it can't make a bad signal sound good. As has been said already.. a good final stage starts with a good source.... think new head unit.
