I've come up with a good legit start to my planning stage for my new build for my mtx 7ks the size is going to be different on the final mostly because I want it to fit nicely between my wheel wells and give the 6x9s in the rear deck just enough room to breath. but here's my rough start: my torres screen shot! keep in mind the dimensions aren't final but I thought it would be sick to have a box JUST big enouch in the face for these subs... so I chose 11 inchs tall... that'll end up closer to 15 plus inches before all is hammered together. the mounting face! from above! now the idea here was to leave enough room to work with later... or some usable trunk space now while still maintaining my bump... again size and length make change... or stay the same... I'm thinking optimal place for amp rack build. maybe back port side view... because why not? lol another sweet view... of a lil bit of everything. tell me what you think... well now that I look at it... I may run a brace across the bottom there. about 4 or 4.25" high just to be sure the subs stay loaded... 95neon_thumper82 Posted July 23, 2013 Author Report Posted July 23, 2013 Doing a square external port? Would be a good time to play with that fiberglass and get all those corners rounded over. But to be honest that gives you about less than 6 inches of squared port area per cubic foot, and that isn't gonna really cut it. For those 10's I would say a bare minimum of 11" squared per cubic foot of port area, otherwise it's gonna chuff and just plain not sound right If you go aeroport you require less area to get the same results, so I would say 3 cubic foot total net enclosure with 1 full length 17" long 6" In Diameter Aero port If you really want to stick with a square or slot port I would say bumping up to 3.5 cubic feet with a 6x6" with 18" length. You have plenty of options, am not sure what your goals are or size constraints or what not I'll look at those options for sure... I like the square port idea... merely because I can keep it all uniform you know? instead of a beautiful finished box with a big awkward hunk of plastic hanging out of it... Idk it just sounds sexier. and the port would definitely recieve some love... I'd change the cut sheet a lil bit so I could put a 45 degree cut on either end of the port and smooth it all over really well to hopefully keep the sound as clean as possible. I like the ideas though and I'm thinking I may Frankenstein the hell out of my current box and find a way to greatly dent the internal volume of the damn think so I can play with volume and ports and all that to see what I like before I set anything in concrete for the new build as far as specs go. but I know I want snug between the wheel wells and just about a half an inch short of the six by nines... the depth will accomodate the rest of the volume giving and taking well as long as I can have a little over 5 inches of depther for mounting these mofos <img src=http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/IMG_9611192581855_zps9b9b76be.jpg border=0 alt= height="75" width="800"> Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option! I still say you need more port area that's what my thiele specs showed... lol. but it will be changed... as far as woofer displacement goes. and I'm going to be toying with the fatter port... I'm liking the 8x8 idea... or maybe 7x7 so I can keep a lil tail on it.. I'm obsessed with a tail... idk why... lmno...
