Before you go through the trouble of building a new box, i would take it out and free air it for a little bit. Do it with both coils and then each of the coils separately that way you can easily identify if a coil is bad. One of my buddies brought over his sub this morning and he only had one hooked up and it played fine. We were in the process of fixing up his box when i noticed only one coil was connected. we hooked both of the coils up and had the same problem you ran into.

damn dude that's just foul!

Well it was just a k-mart 15 that he got for free. It doesn't even deserve wal-mart status. So nothing lost really.

oh damn like a vr2 brand or some wackness like that? lol I have a vr2 on my self... I have my two wtx twelves leaning on it to zhow em of... lol sad sax lil subwoofer :P may fry it on a video. any way back to topic :D

I did free air it right when I got it and it did fine. When I get a minute I'll take it out of the box, but it's not a fun task when the magnet is bigger than the sub cutout. It's a bitch to get in let alone get out haha. Pretty sure it's the box alone, 12 square inches of port along with a tiny box isn't allowing the driver to cool what so ever. I will test it though and let you all know the outcome.
