Karkov Posted July 14, 2013 Report Share Posted July 14, 2013 Ok, so, I have that damn sensor under the hood of my vehicle for the ground. No big deal, using a Mechman, PCM controlled, internally regulated, 370 amp alternator. I wired it just like Mechman said, (no additional grounds, remove factory engine ground, install aftermarket 1/0 gauge straight from battery to alt and run it through sensor, also have to keep the smaller factory ground running through sensor as well.) My question is...If I can fit an additional wire through the sensor can i add an additional ground? (either to frame or body, from battery, and run it through the sensor as well?) I fit a 8 gauge through even after the 2 already in there so usually the more grounds the better and in this case it still goes through that sensor. Also, If with that sensor we want grounds running through it how do the rear battery bank come into play since we need to ground those batteries and of course current runs through those grounds as well? Is the sensor ground more for the under hood application of things? Also, I am trying to keep things relatively factory looking inside the vehicle so with 2 places for batteries under hood i was hoping to utilize both but only 1 ground of 1/0 gauge fits through the sensor. Should i just skip having an additional under hood battery and try to fit it in back? Because of course the 2nd under hood battery would need to be grounded under hood preferably and of course would NOT fit through the sensor.....or would wiring negative to negative of the batteries under hood do the trick and the alt ground go to one of the batteries? Hope that make senses.
