Hdc3 18 Cubes Net

Previously i owned a hdc3 18 and a box with 2 6" aero's. Im about to get my sub and box back cheap. A friend of mine originally built the box for the sub. I THOUGHT the box was bigger then what it actually is. With this box being on the smaller then most peoples i see, with the sub, ports displaced the box is only 5.30 cubes net i was not using alot of power, i had a bb2400.1 and the amp was refurbed and wasnt putting out but like 6-700 rms maybe and my electrical was all stock, no big 3 and only 4 gauge power wire lol. But the results i got were good, and the TL numbers were pretty good for what it was.

Now again im about to get it back from the guy i traded with, but now im going to be running 3.3k or so and im upping the port area as well, because for numbers i know 2 6"s are not enough port.

So this is what it will look like this time:

1 Hdc3 18

Enclosure will be 5.16 after all displacement (box is already built so why not try it)

1 10" aeroport

power on tap is about 3.3k

upgraded electrical- 220a dc alt, 4 runs of 0ga, big 3, & a few batts

So with this, is it true about getting away with a smaller box with more power?

It is true to a point . I'm no expert but port size will really come in to play with what your doing. If it wAs me I would build a new box .

i understand. the reason im asking is because like i said before, i had a small box and little power. now yea the box would be a tad smaller but im going to be running like 4 times the amount of power and electrical that i had with th other box and it still gave me good results.

im going to make the box with multi changable ports. for comps it will be 1 10" aeroport and will be tuned to 45hz, should be ok seeing my blazer peaks between 49-53hz.

and for daily i have a single 8" aeroport and will be tuned to 36hz while in the in enclosure
