wrexxy
i just borrowed a co-wordkers extech 381295A handheld oscope and it works just fine. the problem i'm having is that the resolution of the screen is crap. I did a sweep from like 20 up to 35 (max volume) and i couldn't see any hard or soft clipping (the pixels don't make a perfectly round crest). not really sure where to go from here HU: Kenwood ddx470
Wicks
My Kenwood DNX6990HD does not clip at max volume with all settings flat. Yours may not either. You'd need a quality o-scope or DD-1 to tell. Of course you could contact Kenwood technical service and ask them, but from my previous experience with them, I wouldn't rely on that... 1two3
every single head unit will have its own rate of clipping. they should all be pretty close (in the same model) but thats just how it is so i wouldnt count on costomer service helping you with your individual receiver. if your not happy with the readout of that oscope double check with another as stated above. if you are continue to amp output Car: 2000 Honda CRV Battery: XS Power D5100R Alternator: Stock 90A Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS Front Speakers: Alpine Type S Rear Speakers: JBL GTO 628's Wires: All Knu 4g. wrexxy
so what i did to make sure i wasn't clipping was i turned it to the max and increased the "middle" level on the HU (happened to be centered at 1000Hz and i was using a 1000Hz 0dB tone). with it maxed i still had to increase it to +2 to start seeing soft clipping. So to play it safe I just turned it down to 33 out of
