Rob Smith Posted September 21, 2013 Report Posted September 21, 2013 Just finished building my first box for my 4 day old car! 150 miles and it's already got some slap in it. Man does it dig low... like 25hz low, but overall from 25 - 60 its nice and smooth sounding, no peaky bass humps! Love SA for making a 12 capable of doing this. What do you think of mounting SA-12s like this? System is: Stock 8.4 Nav Head Unit w/factory Alpine System + Sub (for now, will upgrade soon to 4 Digital Designs 6x9s in the doors) Zapco 750.2 Bridged SA-12 D2 wired @ 1 Ohm Box is 2.03 cubic feet tuned at 31hz
Rob Smith Posted September 23, 2013 Author Report Posted September 23, 2013 Just put it on the meter. My first time having it done. On the dash: 31hz - 125.5 48hz - 127.5 Pretty happy to get there for what it is, time to find an amp that can actually make this sub sweat! Sub was no where near its limit.
GZRWbass Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Cool, I did this aswell but had more miles.

Agreene Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 mounting like that doesn't affect anything just gives you more airspace in the box which is good in smaller spaces. what kinda of amp is that?

W140 Posted September 23, 2013 Report Posted September 23, 2013 Looks great, what kind of vehicle is that?
Rob Smith Posted September 23, 2013 Author Report Posted September 23, 2013 Fully optioned Dodge Journey Crew. While yes it is admittedly a mommy mobile (technically my wife's car) it is surprisingly luxurious for a Dodge! The interior is a mix of Chrysler 200 parts and top shelf Dodge stuff. My favorite part... TONS of sound deadening stock, with it on music turned all the way up, not a single rattle inside or outside the car and the bass is almost totally held in! Just got home and doing the math it looks like the car has a 12db gain centered on 48 hz, above and below that is slowly tapers off (assuming the Zapco is putting out 850 watts which is probably a pretty safe bet). Not a terrible frequency to work with I suppose. She just approved a twin to the SA-12 and a new box woohoo. Little does she know a (much) bigger amp, Big 3, and extra battery comes along with those parts lol!
