Blake Farrar
so i currently have a mechman 170amp alt and im thinking about getting the boost module, but is it really worth the price and how much does it really help??
Soccerballzs
No it will not add amperage if that is what you are asking. It turns alternator into 16v 14 v or 12 v . If your batteries are not 16v or 16v will not work. Save your money and buy a 270 amp alternator. MECHMAN
you would be surprised how much power you can support with one of our 170 amp units, especially with the right size battery bank. I have run 6K WRMS pretty well with a single 170 amp unit and 4 batteries... And as far as the boost module being "worth" it, that really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are trying to reduce voltage drop under heavy load, it will not do much for that. If you are trying to squeeze every last watt out of your amplifiers by operating at a slightly higher charging voltage, or increase voltage to properly charge 14 volt batteries, it will work great for that.
