WillPwn4Food
I wouldn't listen to sony. enclosure and woofer can in fact affect it. Take loading into example, and take putting 10kw on a 100w sub. For sure check the gains. You power wire seems maybe a bit small to me IMO. Could be clipping from wrong gains, or could have voltage drop, could have a loading issue, or could just be burning off some excess glue. I'd start with checking your voltage drop and setting your gains. IIsonyII1
Jeejeee..neither do I Can be that varnish only smells, but I'd be more worried about why it is warming up also..even "low volume". But you have already checked right wiring, there are no phase differences, amps voltage are normal? How much amp give "speaker voltages (VAC)" when it starts to smell? Sub and port are the same wall? How much space is at the gate and the rear wall between? "Reverse" mounting or "normal"..if it´s normal way,so how much space is there the magnet and the rear wall between? http://www.youtube.com/user/IIsonyII1 http://www.facebook.com/pages/NoDeMo/143748795725445 Team NoDeMo Golf IV / 8x SA-12´s /+6kW / +155dB

thefourth
You would need to know the length of your port to find out it's exact volume and tuning. Just from me throwing the dims you gave into Torres it looks like no matter what your port length is your enclosure is way off in either the Tuning or wayyyy to much port area. Chances are the coil on that woofer is going to fail if you keep playing it in that enclosure. The best advice I could give you is ditch it right away and build another you don't have to question. Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do thatI can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream. oh lawd. CleanSierra
I think his port is 1.5X10.5" , that's only 15.75" of port. That's less than half the port I'd personally give the sub if it were in my vehicle. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. 95neon_thumper82
The only one who can burn it,is the user himself. Box or the power doesn´t effect to it I must argue with that. a wall socket mated with just about any sub can tell you that too much power can be bad for a sub. go ahead and try it. <img src=http://i1332.photobucket.com/albums/w610/beastly666bassboy/IMG_9611192581855_zps9b9b76be.jpg border=0 alt= height="75" width="800"> Growing old is necessary... growing up is an option!
