Marshey Posted May 3, 2014 Author Report Posted May 3, 2014 Thought id have a go at doing the boot today. Thought if the amps mounted on the angle off batteries it wont get the vibrations through it like it would mounted to the box. Table says it can take 80kg lets see if it can hold 5 d3100 100kg over rated weight so well built i guess. I thought the two 4 channel amps would look good in the wheel well and still be easy to adjust settings on it. But thought they might get a bit hot upside down and awkward screwing cables in as there on the face. Liking this idea the most at the moment it will keep my amp power cables very short and i could always stack another ontop if i can find another one. It dont look like i made much progress today as it all went downhill from the minute i left my house. Some advice is dont shut an electric boot lid with all your batteries in the boot disconnected. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
Marshey Posted May 4, 2014 Author Report Posted May 4, 2014 After changing the plan the negative cables from the front was a little short for my new idea so i cut a bit off end of buss bar and bolted on underneath. Wanted batteries tight against box so cut a little channel so speaker wires can get above them. Needed to mount fuses some how so just grabbed an oak block wondering if you can tap a thread into it Worked very well. Pre drilled 2 holes ready to mount to box. Looks like it will work alright. Forgot how long buss bar was so ive had to move fuses over as far left and batteries over as far right as i can. Works well but need to find a better way to get cable from fuse to battery. Its scary mounting the amp 18mm above the positive and negative buss bars. Need to try work out how im going to run cables from amp to batteries. Dont think ill bother running duel inputs with it only being an inch from the buss bars. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/

Marshey Posted May 5, 2014 Author Report Posted May 5, 2014 I decided to make doorcards number 2 as i wasnt happy with first set. They was hard to mount to doors and lacked mounting depth for speakers. These new ones are going to use the factory doorcard mounting points for mdf in middle for strength and to mount everything to. Working out how much actually needs to be cut. Might go for that sort of design to keep them up front and not hidden against the seat. Still fits on door. Not much left but big bit of mdf fits in middle. Glued mdf to doorcard then mounted it to make sure it keeps its shape as it sets. Got no inside door release or window switches so good job i left windows open or i would be stuck in car. Thought id carry on with box so cleaned up all glue that over expanded and gave it all a sand inside ready for more filling and fibreglass. So hard sanding above your head while squeezed in an 18" hole. Alot of smoothing to do to get it perfect. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
goodvibez Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Nice work man! Comming along nicely! Funny how the people who have a louder system than you will usually give you a compliment about your setup because they know how much blood, sweat, time, and money you put into it. The people who criticize or try and one up you....have a p.o.s to no system at all and will tell you all about this "other" guys system! Saddley I'm sure if I meet this "other" guy...he will probably tell me he thinks your just as annoying as I think you are! I'm not compensating, just proud of fabricating! Marshey Posted May 6, 2014 Author Report Posted May 6, 2014 Trying to work out how to have duel inputs come out of the amp and have all 4 fuses then connect to buss bars which are only 18mm below amp. So much to put in a tight space. Was thinking about putting 4 channels here but i might put one in front of the other and step it down. Building a frame for amp to sit on. 2x2 screwed to floor then has 2 peices of 2x2 going up joined to 2 peices of 3x2 joined side by side which has 18mm feet connected to. Its mounted pretty solid. I wouldnt like to see what happens if it touched both buss bars. Really dreading getting it all wired up. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
Marshey Posted May 10, 2014 Author Report Posted May 10, 2014 Fibreglassed back of doorcards to waterproof them and add bit more strength. Getting seriously heavy now and thats without 20kg of speakers in them. Taking so much to get the box smooth need to get another tin of filler. Subs should be going in next week. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
Marshey Posted May 14, 2014 Author Report Posted May 14, 2014 I think this is how ill end up doing doors i like the crossovers in one line and thats the only way to fit everything else on the door. Slapped a bit of filler in the corner to give the first speaker some angle otherwise its angled to your feet. Made a box for the amp so that i know it would be 100% safe from the buss bars below. Box didnt fit so had to take back section off and if you look really close you can see on the corners where it just catches the boot lid still. So much time filling and sanding ive decided to leave it like that for now. It could do with alot more getting it perfect but i just want to get it playing! Need to somehow make these plain flat boring doorcards look good. Plan is to have amps all wired up on weekend not going to bother fusing the big amp the cables only going to be 6" long at most. Other 2 subs should arrive monday so could have it playing by then hopefully. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
Marshey Posted May 18, 2014 Author Report Posted May 18, 2014 My temporary wooden fuse holder has failed it can only hold 1 fuse as there too close so going to redo it in plastic or something. Tried keeping all cables same length. Looks messy just need to do speaker cables. Not happy with how the wires have turned out but atleast everything powers up now. Started cutting doors thinking it wouldnt take that long. Problems occur like usual and having to mount crossovers to this frame first then onto door. Trimmed door cutout so there will be space to get cables into crossover from behind. Drops in nicely. Cutting 8 of them took longer than i thought. I should route the internal edge that goes onto crossovers to make them looks nicer but not enough time yet. Had more clearance issues so had to bring door handle tweeters and window switch out another 18mm Had to route back of panel for window switch to sit in better. Time to cut all the tweeter holes now. Using a really blunt hole cutter bit it dont cut the holes it just seems to burn its way through only 32 holes to cut hopefully it makes it. While i let hole cutter cool down a bit i went to solve my subwoofer fitment issue where the magnets touching the floor so i gave it a 40grit sand. Went through about 8 batteries cutting these. All done for now. Tomorrow i gotta trim all speaker cutouts with dremel as they a bit tight. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
