Marshey Posted May 31, 2014 Author Report Posted May 31, 2014 The Sensor is attached to a HEAD REST, which represents the person in a seated position. This headrest position has a fixed distance of 1100mm from the front of the headrest to the bottom most part of the front windscreen either to the left or right of the dashboard depending on which side the SPL sensor has been positioned. Any combination of doors, windows or sunroofs, even the boot, can be opened or closed to try & and achieve a higher SPL score. Doors, windows, sunroofs, roofs and body panels etc can be pushed against to try & achieve a higher score. the rest of the rules can be found here. http://www.propperdroppers.com/pd_rules.html Got a few issues to sort out first but ill see if i can find some vids someone took. ive broke my headunit, alternator and voltmeter but i suppose this gives me time to finish other door. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
Andreetje77 Posted May 31, 2014 Report Posted May 31, 2014 PD is going mad this summer haha(there will be a lot of carnage); You lot had better watch out! DOUBLE TROUBLE IS HERE!! Two of the Lowest ever (((pd))) tested frequencies are about to be SPL tested in a competition designed for the ultra Ultra lowest of the lows.Test at 20Hz and 10Hz - Those two scores are averaged and again it`s the average that determines who comes first. This SPL Test is not for the faint hearted - you can port block for this and it`s highly recommended. But still be aware that you are seriously pushing your sound system to extremely dangerous limits.
Marshey Posted June 4, 2014 Author Report Posted June 4, 2014 So i havnt really done much on the car lately just trying to fix all the problems that keep occuring. Redone my fuse block with a bit of perspex as the oak block isnt good if you overtighten the bolts in the tapped hole. Forgot to countersink the screw so middle fuse sticks up a bit. Still having voltage issues but that was at 23hz coudlnt even go max volume it was dropping so much. i believe my alternator is having problems as i put a clamp on it and its putting out 10a idle and i play music voltage drops to 12.5v and most i see it put out is 40a. Its meant to be a 210a alternator with some people clamping them at 250+ I was playing with the AMM-1 and played some tones from 20-50hz to check my box rise the test was done at half volume windows and doors shut. So im guessing it will change a bit max volume and window open. Not sure how you get a video to show on here but thats it below of just door speakers. For some reason the bottom ones seem to be louder than top ones. Not sure why as they all brand new and i matched gain on both channels of amp. View My Video Started doing a bit to the roof today as that seems to be the weakest point at the moment. Its not fixed just a few temporary screws as i need to foam the sides and glue the middle. Need to make a cutout by mirror for where the stripper pole is going to bolt to. Tried keeping it with the curve of the roof not to lose too much height so doing it out of thin sheets of ply. Not sure if anyone can help but when i start my car and everything turns on i get hissing and cracking noise through the subs for about 15seconds then it goes away and it only happens when i first start my car. Video of it is below you might have to turn it up loud as phone mic is useless. Marshey Posted June 6, 2014 Author Report Posted June 6, 2014 Thought i would add another layer of sound deadening to the doors today as they flex like mad on 20hz songs. Noticed the rattling noise in my door was the door strength bar. I considered removing this but think my door needs all the strength it can get. Foamed in all the gaps and behind it so hopefully it stops it moving as much and dont get that metal on metal vibrating noise. Was careful with foam didnt over do it like usual hardly any dripped out. Only managed to get couple bits of deadening on after all the foam had dryed so ill finish it off another day. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
Marshey Posted June 9, 2014 Author Report Posted June 9, 2014 Thats all 3 layers of 4mm ply glued and screwed over the hole roof. Theres about a 6" wide void down both sides where there was nothing to go into. Got car all covered ready for the messy foam. So hard to judge how much foam to squirt when you cant see the hole your filling. Not too many drips although i got a couple on my arms as i was still foaming. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/

Marshey Posted June 18, 2014 Author Report Posted June 18, 2014 So im still not happy with how the speakers are sounding i know these rockford should sound alot better than they do now. The doorcards are no where near strong enough or mounted securely as it uses factory doorcards locating clips and the parts that are original doorcard flex alot. Back to doorcard plan a with using steel angle on the door and bolting doorcard to that but i will be fibreglassing it to try make it look good instead of a flat mdf sheet. I just drilled into door skin tapped m6 thread then bolts straight through angle onto door. They will either be glued onto the door for extra strength or see if any one wants to try weld them. Top ones was alot more hassle as my steel angle wouldnt work so got some cheap b&q ones but there not really that strong. Using some thin mdf to bend round the curved of the door so when i fibreglass i can just stape fabric to it all round the outside and stretch it over speaker rings. Just need to finish putting a bit of mdf across the top and tomorrow i will start cutting all the speaker rings to position. 2004 Renault Megane Pioneer AVH-4400BT 5 XS Power D3100 2 Renault 210a Alternator 1 Hertz 15k Spl Monster 2 RF T600-4 16 RF T162s 6.5" Mids 16 RF T1T 1.1" Tweeters 4 FI SP4 18" D2 subs Peak: 155.0 @ 31hz 40hz: 154.4 33hz: 154.6 25hz: 154.0 20hz: 152.5 Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/178428-renault-megane-4-fi-sp4-18s-walled-12k-457-pics-termlab-scores/
