OK guys, I used to have a 1din kit from scosche, but the unit stuck out a mile. so, I fiberglassed some 3/4 mdf to it, and here is the bodyfiller shot:

plastidipped and installed:

ok, so when i installed the amp, the logo was upside down. the battery is on the driver side of the car, so i didn't want to make the runs farther than direct. so i stuck some filler on the amp where the grooved logo is, and made her all smooth and glossy:

all glossy!

got the logo:

and applied!

I'm glad my insanity could help. :) I wanted to do a similar thing to my dash bezel but my eq sits right below my HU. It stcks out pretty far. I have been sandbagging on doing something about it.

now were on to the trim panel. this is all a process of doing most of these at the same time whenever i have time.

IMG_20130915_175756_196.jpg

and this is the box back out of the car, i body filled it, sanded it, primer-ed it, and sanded it. didn't get any other pics of paint, but youll get an overview of what it looks like later on.

IMG_20131026_162217_190.jpg

OK. we are now current in time. All of the previous was from June on. i now have the box painted glossy black, and the trim panel is finished. Ill take lots of pics of my car tomorrow and give you guys a walkaround of how it currently is. The trim panel is wrapped and has 45's around the port, and woofers.

Next what's in store is a fiberglass trim piece to go around the amp out to the edges of the trunk opening. I'll explain it much more thoroughly tomorrow. (scooter, this is where your amp rack comes in to help me.)

I have all the materials, fleece, fiberglass resin, and body filler, but my house recently sold, so the build will be on hold for a while.

my parents and i don't have a house found to buy, so we'll be renting for a while. I'm not sure what's happening in the near future, but ill get this done sooner or later.

Another thing to address is: everything i do in my car, has to be thought about not damaging the ability to return the car to complete stock. it's the car my parents gave me, and i'll be selling it in 6 months or so.

more to come soon. if you have any suggestions or further questions, feel more than free to post.

Another plan is to turn my cigarette lighter into a volume knob. if any of you know where someone has done that, please post a link up here. Thanks!

all i did was chop up a little bit of plastic in back, it was pretty easy.

OK, so the past few days i've been busy, and havent had any free time in the daylight hours. that's why its taken so long for me to post.

So, today, I took a bunch of pictures of where my build currently stands. I have the trunk sealed off for the most part, and everything is up and running well. I haven't had a chance to hook my oscope up and tune my amp, but I'm probably running about 1500 watts, and i am very pleased with how it plays. the box is tuned to around 28hz, and it moves the most air at about 20-23 hz. there isn't any frequencies that are lacking volume either. It plays loud and it plays really really low.

Next what I'll be doing, is making a panel to go where my little cubby under my HVAC controls is, and will be putting a stinger volt meter there. Then, either i will be modifying my cigarette lighter to be my volume knob, or I'll just put the volume knob in the panel where the volt meter will be.

The ideas are all in the air still, so if you guys have some input, please post it up here.

The pics that I took today are uploading now, I'll post them up in a bit.

Alright, pics are uploaded. Here we go.

This is the original box design. I was originally going to have a plexiglass window, but my budget wouldn't let it happen.

boxdesign1.png

boxdesign2.png

Next is a graph of spl in winisd. The white one is the graph of the current box. I wanted the subs to play really low, but I don't really care about getting high spl numbers, so that's why I did the white one.

The little peaky green one was my rockford fosgate 15 tuned to 32 hz. didn't know much about audio when i designed it, so that's why it is inefficient and peaky.

OK, this is pictures of how everything currently stands in my build.

in this pic, you can see my current trim panel around the box. the box is painted glossy black, and there is RGB led strips that i haven't wired up yet.

DSCN0440.jpg

this is all of the big 3 under my hood with the line going to the rear battery. I have a cramped engine bay, so i put the fuse block on top of the stock fuse panel.

Overall trunk pic - if you look at the rear corners of the box, you can see the 4 strand wire for the RGB LED strips.

Rear battery - the little red wire is the remote wire.

Another angle of the rear battery

front of box towards front of car. i sealed the trunk off to a better extent using fatmat between the box, trim panel, and the lip on the trunk.

Sound deadened door:

Here you can see where the front tweeters sit. I wanted an oem style, so i put them in that little corner.

Thats it for now!
