check valve problems

ok i just put a new smc check valve on one of my viair 444 compressors, and in the process broke a fitting. no big deal just had to get another one so i left the check vavle in to act like a plug in the port. it didnt lose but like 2psi all night. fast forward to this morning i put the hose back on and ran the compressor and it started leaking like it was before i put the new check valve in. its leaking back through the compressor enough you can hear it just standing there. so i took the hose back off and it hasnt lost any pressure in like 4 hours but before it lost bout 80psi in like 40min. what could be causing this? it should leak either way right hose on or off

Stupid question. Is it in backwards?

No it's not. I haven't done anything with the check valve itself. its still in the port like it was before I put the hose on and took the hose back off

Is the hose going to far into the check valve, pushing on the "ball" and making it leak?

Its male threads on each end of the check valve

Where abouts is it leaking?

Try using the other leader hose. It can be the compressor. And yes, dven tho its new it can be doa. Been there done that.

its leaking out of the intake port on the compressor.

Try swapping leader hoses.
