Guest
you do not need an i7 for gaming. i5 is plenty. IMO.
Guest
newegg is having a 48 hour sale and this processor is included. $10 off (179.99) with this promo code EMCYTZT5273 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115234 edit: i mean the i7 is obviously better http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/702?vs=836 but for $160 less, that gives you $160 worth of 250gb SSD money. Hikato
A buddy of mine has an i5-3570k and he plays any game with no problems. I have the i7-3770k and it is a bit faster, but I wouldn't say he can't handle much less than me (as most games won't bottleneck his 3570k). It's not until you get really into CPU intensive things that you'll beat an i5, although BF4 is a CPU intensive game. It's personal preference, really. I only went i7 because I do a lot of programming and multitasking, otherwise I probably would've gotten the 3570k. In the end, you'll probably be better off running an i5 with an SSD, as someone suggested above. 2012 Ford F150 XLT CrewCab w/ 3.5L EcoBoost V6 - Livernois Motorsports 93 Octane Performance Tune - 6000k HIDs Hi/Lo + Fogs - 5% Tint all around w/ 7" Brow (50% windshield soon) - 6" BDS Suspension Lift + 2" Leveling Kit - 35x12.50 Toyo Open Country M/Ts - 20" Chrome Ballistic Jester Wheels - 4" Heartthrob Exhaust - Airraid Cold Air Intake - Pioneer AVH-P4400BT - 2x Sundown SA 10s in under-seat ported enclosure. beaker
Currently there are very few games that are multithreaded enough to take advantage of an i7. Get the i5 and put the extra cash toward a better video card.
