Mikey Bates
Sister wanted a temperary set up while she saves the rest to wall her 02 Explorer. Ended up getting 4 Rockford R2 D2 12s. Going to be run off a Rockford Punch 1000 ( Birthsheet says 1200-1300 ) at 1 ohm. Thinking the best scenario would be subs up port back but im unsure about tuning. Subs say their response is 43-250. Is tuning to a daily 34-36 safe? Also what type of port area should i be looking for? Obviously not dealing with high Xmax subs and whatnot so not sure on that either. Car 2002 Ford Explorer SUV http://www.governmentauctions.org/uploaded_images/explorer-741876.JPG Subs are http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/r2d2-12 Amp http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/p1000-1bd Max Dimensions Are: 19" High ( This is to the window line to allow her to compete in Beginner Class if she wants, but can go higher if need be ) 28" Deep ( which leaves room for the port to breathe, around 5" from rear gate ) 44.5" Wide Subs Up Port Back is my thinking and possibly doing a flush baffle, not a full double baffle and tuning around 34-36hz if the subs can be in a box that low ( like i said the response says 43 so not sure about that )
CleanSierra
You're not going to get huge output from those things, you probably know that though. Are the subs bought yet? If they are, go with 50" of port or so. A 5X10 bottom slot port will work fine. Fosgate has the thing tuned at 45 Hz with rolloff happening at 39 Hz I would make sure you get the 1.75 cubes per sub. That will put your box at 7 cubes net after port and sub displacement. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Mikey Bates
Should i uning higher to 45hz then? Or tune lower like 36ish and just set Subsonic a bit high? and i was going to do a center vertical port, unless center bottom you think would work better....Thanks for the inputs! subs are about to be bought...other suggestions for 163 bucks? lol in the 800-1000rms range
CleanSierra
OH MY GOD yes, I have a perfect suggestion for that price range and you'll(and your sister) thank me for it. Practically the same exact price and two 15s: http://www.soundqubed.com/HDS215_p_223.html Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you. CleanSierra
They've got them listed at $90 per and they'd sound SO much better than those entry level RFs. $180 is a fair price for a 2.5" coiled SQ sub that will take 600W all day. They'd go perfect with that amp. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Mikey Bates
Looking into those now, hopefully we will go with those haha. Thanks a ton! Didn't even think of SQd. i already have a nice dual 15 box with removable ports even hahaha
CleanSierra
I just think you'd be much happier and that's one HELL of a price for 15s. I hope more people give this stuff a try because I think it looks like great entry level stuff from a good company. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
