75c10chevy Posted January 17, 2014 Report Share Posted January 17, 2014 My brother recently got his SSA Xcon reconed by the company. It needed a new basket as the old one gone bent some how. When it came back, it was reconed and had the new basket, but he saw that there were spacers between the magnet and the basket as like the recone didnt fit. He just got around to installing it on the 10th of January. 2 says later we noticed it was making a scratching noise when it is playing. We turned the car off and pushed on the center of the sub and it didnt make any noise. He thinks the basket got bent from the weight of the magnet. I think the magnet got shifted from the spacers being there so the coil is hitting when it plays. I have been emailing SSA, but ever since i mentioned the spacers on Tuesday, they never answered back. I think they made a mistake and dont want to admit it. Anyone else know what to do about this or ever heard about having spacers put in after a recone? Thanks for any help Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
