lgnmgr Posted February 7, 2014 Author Report Posted February 7, 2014 so after more measuring and thinking about it i think i may go with 2 sa 8 v2's. i like the fact that amps and subs would match (not that it really matters) and i would be able to get optimal airspace and tuning for them with a smalller enclosure then i was originally planning for
audiA6_audio Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 pics of the truck?? ive got an 01 zr2 ext cab. doing a budget build (on hold) edit* love the idea of the 2) 8's. Theres not a whole lot of room behind the seats, especially if your 6ft+ As some have stated above, youre best bet it to run a decent set of comps in the doors. could always add another amp if you feel like putting more upfront. I see alot of guys to a 4"-5.25" comp set up front on dash. (may help with that forward imaging for sq)
Aj11 Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 decided on 2 8s huh, good choice! more cone then a 15 but way less air space. they should sound really nice in that little space. what amp are you running? And you think of a tune for the box yet? I'd do 34hz for 8s but that's me jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
audiA6_audio Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 not sure how they actually measure as not all subs are created equally but this is an example of the con area guides we go by up here. this is off of the NewEnglandSPL website *Classes are based on square inch of surface area of the subwoofers in each system. The Sq in Measurements are as follows: 8" = 50", 10" = 79", 12" = 113", 15" = 177", 18" = 254". Square subs are measured width X height.
Aj11 Posted February 7, 2014 Report Posted February 7, 2014 yea yea, i know, but 8+8=16 haha jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

Deeznutz Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 I had a 97 S-10 x-cab. Yes, you can put the amps in a false floor. You can still use your seat if you use the 3rd door as an option for an enclosure. I would buy a second door used for under $100 and gut it with a cut-off wheel. Build a fiberglass box specifically for the gutted space. I went with 4 12 HX2's in a blow through, but the 3rd door back in the day was option #2. -Frank
Deeznutz Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 Oh, and the stock location for door speakers suck. If I remember correctly, passenger side speaker is more foward than the driver's side. The speaker housing is a plastic mount this raised to push the stock speaker to the perforated speaker portion of the door panel. Just keep that in mind when mounting your speakers. -Frank

My plan is to take care of the audio first then work my way to the outside. i do enjoy me some 4 wheeling and mudding so it may get a lift and things of that nature but not totally decided on that yet
