Blaktastic Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 My car is an 08 acura tsx with the stock head unit. I have this harness to give me RCA outputs (http://pac-audio.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=561&CategoryID=28) running from my head unit to my amp. For a while whenever I would turn on my car it would send a pulse of base to my sub and I would hear a quick "thump". My sub, amp and everything all worked fine until today when I was driving my bass just faded out. The amp still turns on, and the connection is fine to the sub, so are my RCA's blown? P.S. they are cheap walmart RCA's.
Aj11 Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 my first thought Is check your ground. the cheap scorshe wires last for ever. they do get loose but I'd still check your ground. and if they are so cheap run some new ones. unlike most i enjoy running wires. its relaxing jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

Ahmed Johnson Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 Check your ground. Sometimes the power shoots to the amp and if your ground is bad, it will just sit in the amp with nowhere to discharge causing a pop. What kind of amp is it? Some of the cheaper amps don't have the soft start feature that keeps it from popping. I had an amp that wasn't making the popping noise when I first bought it, but after a year or so the pop came in and the amp crapped out.
Aj11 Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 the kid i talked about a while ago on here with the 2 12s And a 15 on 2 different amps with 6g power wire had a terrible ground. his would pop between songs turning on and off. he'd even get the pop when his door was shut to hard. i told him to fix...well everything but he didn't listen...cuz he knows more then me jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
Blaktastic Posted February 22, 2014 Author Report Posted February 22, 2014 The ground I am using is a stock ground right next to my fuel pump. It is really tight and seems good.
Aj11 Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 stock ground? your sharing a ground? what size wire are you using? anything stock just seems bad. It should go to bare metal on the frame of your car jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
