Ok i have had about a year long problem now. In my friends toyota matrix we have had a problem with roadnoise, or at least thats what we thought it was. My friend went ahead and tore apart his whole car and dynamated the whole thing and then we ran the rca's in the roof and the power lines on the floor, but there was still road noise! so we took out his amp to his subs and his subs because that seemed to be defective and we thought ok it must have been the defective amp.. wrong again! so what we have noticed is that its not really road noise but rather just static for when he steps on the gas the sound does not fluctuate it just stays the same. Now i will say just in case there is no explanation for this that at one point he had a short in his car... but then it magically disappeared.. so i dont know if it has to do with that... but there is the whole story so if there is any input or ideas please let me know thanks!

define "static" youre just hearing random static noises come from the car or the radio?

its static coming through the speakers when i have a cd in... not fm or am radio and not just random noises from the car... the noise actually begins as soon as the head unit is on and when the music fades out you can hear it.. but you cant hear it when it is turned up

Is it a Pioneer head-unit?

Try grounding the amp straight to the battery?

yeah actually it is a pioneer head unit... the flip out screen that runs in stores now for i think around $600 but now used to run for like $800 or $900

you think grounding it to the battery really might do the trick?

Dunno about grounding to the battery, I'd save that as last resort.

Have you tried grounding the RCA's? Since I've heard Pioneer head-units are prone to RCA noise unless they're grounded.

ground the rcas? ive never heard of that before. Well my friend actually has a kinetic in the back of his car and thats where the amps are essentially being ground too, so i guess the battery idea is already being used in effect? unless the kinetic doesnt really count as ground it to the "battery". I know i may sound like a moron but could you explain what you mean by grounding out the rcas? It seems like my last resort.
