Adire Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Hello all I need some advice about an amp I'm think of getting. As stated is 99 us amps usa400 , I'm currently running a hifonics 1600d. Now I was given the amp to try out to see if I want it. I hooked it up and was unimpressed with the output, my sub is an adire brahma motor done over by psi to handle the juice. It's wired in one ohm when I ran it briged it didn't work at all, until i used just one channel and then the output was less then what I was expecting, no where near what the hifonics is capable of. Should I pass this amp up or am I overlooking something?

jarrius Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 If you ran it at 1ohm mono(bridged) it problem wentin to protect. Here are specs I found for the amp. 2 x 200 watts rms @ 4 ohms 2 x 400 watts rms @ 2 ohms 2 x 600 watts rms @ 1 ohm 1 x 1200 watts rms @ 2 ohm mono. So to run it bridged the amp will need to see 2ohms not 1 ohm. John Fassetta Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I'm super jealous of the Adire Audio Brahma. Those are from a bit before my time in car audio but I've always thought they are super cool. If the one sub is wired at 1ohm I don't see how you could make much use out of that amp as the Hifonics will outperform just one channel at 1ohm by a good margin. I'd look for another replacement for the Hifonics. Even if you could bridge it at 2ohms I don't think you'll see any performance increase. It's a nicer brand than Hifonics but just doesn't have as much power and you lose a lot of headroom compared to what you're used to.
Adire Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 Ah thanks guys, with my dual 2 the only config I can have are 1 and 4 ohm loads as far as I know of, yea the amp looks badass but 600 is 1k less then it's getting now, I think I agree with john and maybe finding a 2500d or something, so unless there is a way to get 2k from the us amps, although from the looks of the guts it made me kinda upset it want a lot louder, I doubt going to a 4 ohm load would be beneficial.
