Running subs with factory radio

Would using the factory radio to power subs yield the same sound output as an aftermarket radio to power the subs?

I was just hit by a store wanting $200 (estimate by geek squad) to install an aftermarket radio in my car. But being that the price includes the dash kit, antenna adapter and something to allow the factory amp to work with the factory radio . Also can't forget labor. I think the price is okay, I would try the job myself but I have a saab 9-5 and it is a pain to work with and would rather have it covered under warrenty by a pro. Now the question is can I use the factory radio to allow me to have subwoofers in the back (as this option is way cheaper) because I don't want to do this only to have to get an after market radio and pay even more because the output of the factory radio is sufficient enough for the amp. My amp is a hifonics Brutus brx 2400.1d and 2 12" MMATS rated at 1000rms a piece. Would it be better sound wise to just go with the aftermarket radio or could I do the factory radio option?

AudioControl LCi2 will fix your problem it cleans up factory radios output and makes them clean and strong.

You can run your remote wire to the fuse box and find a fuse that is only have power when the engine is one and attach the wire there. Then get a RCA line out and splice that into your speakers.

Thanks for the responses guys. I bought a line output converter with adjustable gains for each input. I should have the system in by tonight so let's see how it goes.

The line out is easy to install (unless it is behind your dash then it is annoying.

Make sure you have a safe place for your power and remote to run through your firewall. Try to find a grommet to use. I just did and install in an 05 montego and I had to drill through the driver side floor and thread the power and remote through the floor, wrap it in weather resistant tubing and then feed it up through the engine.
