Would i need a cap?

Recommended Posts

As I said, this only happens when idling. My amp is more power hungry since its on the recommended manufacture awg size now... If I am going to get the big 3 done, im going to Mach 1 instead of Communications Center which is the name of the shop.

My car audio system: (car: '09 Hyundai Sonata GLS Sedan 2.4L)

Stock radio, 2nd battery since owning the car (basic 700CCA battery for starting) and stock alternator (rated at 110 amps @ 1,500-2,000 rpms) reserve: 110 x .40 = 44 amps

Audio equipment:

1 Kenwood KAC 7205 1000 watt amp (2 30A fuses)

2 Rockford Fosgate P3D4-10 punch sub (250-500 watts RMS with peak at 1000 watts)

Enclosure: Scosche SE102CC 10 Inch Dual Sub box 3/4th inch thick MDF board 0.75cu ft per chamber

4 Pyle PB63BL 6.5 inch 3 way speakers (180 RMS 360 max watts) replaced OEM speakers

Save yourself the $ and watch a youtube vid. Its not hard. Usually better to learn to do the work yourself. Cool, well good luck!

Yea that's the issue. I looked at it and my alternator is in a hard spot to get to.... I might end up waiting though since I want to see how this system acts now and also build up paychecks....

Also, i couldnt find anyway to upload photos here so i used my flickr account...

Your ground looks sketchy! Needs to be sanded down with 1 self taping large screw. Maybe even a better spot. ? As for your ALT you probly best off to get to it from underneth the car. My Lancer is like that. But once jacked up piece of cake! I would bet it would help alot and shouldnt take you more than 2 hrs to run the big 3, secure all your wiring so it looks pretty. I just saying!

Just some pics of what i have done and its still not perfect. Changing subs to 2 HDS310s and need to add more grounds. My volts drop on full tilt but i have more work to do. I love the alt and want a new battery up front with TM batt terminals as well as more in the rear too. Shit just costs alot of $ but you reach a point where you have to keep dumping it in. I have that RF T1d212 @ 1 ohm of the T1500 = 1950 watts(Birthsheet anyways) and the sub can take it for a bit. The HDS310s are a beast and i will be underpowering them! argh! lol

I went to Autopia (private autoshop) and they said they would put in the big 3. No hard feelings to car audio guys but I feel more comfortable having a ASE certified mechanic doing it since my engine is setup weird and the Air intake manifold is right in the way... And on top of that, put the engine back together right. Big 4 is going in. I got enough cable for it. 1 battery to alternator + and 3 grounds. 1. alt ground to engine block, 2. alt ground to battery ground, 3. engine block to chassis ground....

Right now im looking at a Rockford Fosgate 2 farad cap but i wont get it if i dont need it. Plus the fact that i found out my last one was hooked up weird... Power in to cap then to amp, ground from amp to cap then to chassis... Unless thats one of 2 methods... Rockford shows it as power into cap then to amp and amp ground to chassis and cap ground to chassis....
