Justin Eaton Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 I have an off brand lead acid batt under the hood. I have a yellow top just wantin to know if I should keep batt under hood and add the optima in my back seat or just do away with the cheap one? I'm running a bb2400 on a dd9515g
Justin Eaton Posted April 5, 2014 Author Report Posted April 5, 2014 Oh yea it's a 136 amp alt and big 3 is done
youngbass98 Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 I would run both, but plan to upgrade to an agm a soon as you have the money 06 monte carlo 2 12 rockford p3s soundstream rubicon 2500 crescendo audio mezzo 6.5 ct sounds 125.4 execution audio and shca wiring 2 xs d3400 on stock alt
mbdblue Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 personally, I'd try and sell the Optima and use the cash towards a good AGM (XS). Justin Eaton Posted April 5, 2014 Author Report Posted April 5, 2014 Ok. I can do that what size would I need?
mbdblue Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 Biggest you can fit.....there's some speculation on those BB amps....I've never ran one, but I've heard they can make power; Whether it's clean or not is another story. Can't use the XP series under the hood, they recommend them as backup batteries only, and a d975 is too small for your setup IMO. I'd look more towards the 5400, 3400, or 2400 (although, I don't see a huge difference between the 2400 and 3400 besides price and group #). See what your voltage does with that, you may need to throttle down the gain a little if it's dipping a lot. If you want to go any bigger than that, seriously consider a HO alt. *This is all assuming your wired down to 1 ohm.
