it is a big deal man. If you had your shit set wrong on your amp your only going to keep blowing gear and spending more money. We are not trying to sound like dicks we are trying to help you learn and to keep you from spending money because of blowing subs or amps.

Say you spend 200 on a new sub. it blows because you never set the amp up correctly or never tested to see where your deck was distorting at. well your out 200 for a sub now unless you recone it then you are still spending more money then you needed. If you set it up correctly you should never blow a sub unless you get carless with your system and play at low voltage or knowing lee turn shit up just to make it "Louder"

You can't hear clipping with your ears....

didnt say i did/didnt hear it clipping. who gives a shit i blew a sub not a big deal
I can assure you that I, for one, don't give a shit about what you do with your equipment. The fact is, you don't know if your setup had distortion OR clipping since I doubt it was setup with proper methods. The only two proper methods are with an oscilloscope, or a DD-1. Your ears are not a good or proper method in any way.

To give suggestions on "what to get next" would be foolish on our part because it's a waste of time if you're going to send a dirty signal to the next sub. You may have sent a dirty signal to this sub, you may not have. You openly admitted to having the gain up "a little more than it should have been" and going full tilt on it all day. You also said that it was just an accident, it seems like you knew you were going to fry it, making it no accident all. I guess if you spend $200 on a quality sub, maybe you will take more care in giving it a better life.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

yeah thats what im saying though i knew i could have blown the sub i wasnt suprised that it happened. i was pushing it too hard all day and i had turned the gain up a little to see if it could handle it or not i understand that the sub isnt exactly the most expensive but it isnt the cheapest. i had it set good where i knew it wasnt being pushed too hard or anything like that. i dont plan on buying a new sub soon maybe something cheap and ill switch back to my old amp so i dont fry to amp accidentally or the sub . im going to save up for a different vehicle then gonna install a system w/ a new sub just seeing what people recommend. when i get the new sub ill probably end up getting the thing that steve sells to set the gains properly because i dont want to blow something thats more high end
