Does this mean (80amp x 12volts=960 rms) that only 960 rms will pass through that fuse??? That's ignoring effeciency ofcourse. My amp is 2000rms @ 2ohms.. So in my case is the amp still producing 2000rms with that fuse?? rockFord_Expedition Posted April 15, 2014 Report Posted April 15, 2014 Not a chance. If your electrical can actually deliver above 90 amps to the alt, you will blow the fuse repeatedly. If your electrical cant provide that, then your amp will make what it can but bog down your electrical. Volts x amps = watts. Multiply that by amplifier efficiency that gives you output. My car came with 4 gauge under the hood so not sure if I should upgrade the big 3 and power cable. I have a 90 amp alt but not upgrading that anytime soon. Ordering a 300 amp fuse soon though.
