N8d513
I just got my mechman alternator last week but I have been to busy to install. I have a 1999 2.4 liter grand am, and I have never seen this before, but there are 2 ground wires coming from the engine block (on the front side) to the negative of the battery. I'm planing on removing all of the factory wiring and just running brand new cables. Is it important to change out those factory engine block grounds to bigger wires? Or will the ground I'm using on the alternator mounting bracket be sufficient acting as the sole engine block ground? Again I'm removing all of the factory grounds, alternator charge wire, and replacing them with 0awg wire. Thanks for the help in advance! MECHMAN
You can leave the factory grounds. We recommend to add a negative and positive from the alternator directly to the battery.
