alternator size. how to choose? please help

Recommended Posts

All hotels alt. Companies I've searched only have alts for the 4 cylinder accord, not the v6. Is the a down side to getting too big of an alternator? Also when a get the alternator, is that all that needs to be done I read somewhere I have to bypass something in the fuse box that regulates voltage from alternator

Heres how I chose what size to get:

Me: Mike, whats the biggest alt you make for a '95 3000GT with the DOHC engine.

Singer: 230A peak, and 170A idle.

Me: Eh, Ill take one of those.

Singer: You'll have an invoice any minute.

Thats sorta how the convo went.

Most people don't like going below 12v.

I don't like going a tenth of a volt under battery rest LOL

1) Theres no downside.. except engine strain I guess.. but ask for a hairpin (more efficient). Also, the strain will only occur when you start pullin' powaa. I doubt you'll have any issues.

2) You're probably thinking of the ELD Bypass. At least thats what i thought it was called.
