The hardest part for us was to make a box that was sturdy, but didn't sacrifice sound quality or beauty. So what we ended up going with was a design that was supported with internal bracketing then for the baffle we decided to utilize tongue and groove in order to support the sub with no difficulties, so far its worked out absolutly fantastic. PortSideAudio Posted May 5, 2014 Author Report Posted May 5, 2014 Hey guys, I had forgotten that I had prom this past weekend so I didn't get in as much work as I wanted, we were stuck to working only on Sunday but anyway this is what we got done, we didn't put enough hardener in our resin so that really slowed us down... The back piece is on, threw the fleece on there right away to begin fiber-glassing process This is the inside bracketing for the back, I had to crawl into the box to do this, that SUCKED!!! This also made the pics suck, sorry! Ok now back to fiber-glassing! PortSideAudio Posted May 5, 2014 Author Report Posted May 5, 2014 While we were waiting for the resin to cure we decided to make this little thing out of scrap things we had laying around (the only thing we bought was one of the switches, a couple banana plugs... and thats it)... Its just a simple little test box, we can hook it up a battery to it to test amps/subs if we want, or we have a terminal cup in the front for testing speakers, tweeters, used shit we just find around, ect. Chad Sanders Posted May 5, 2014 Report Posted May 5, 2014 DO NOT use the fiberglass mat it is a pain in the but to apply use the fiberglass cloth you should checkout oreily's its good and cheap. i used it to do body work around exhuast cut outs.

In my opinion chop mat is alot better strength wise. Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do thatI can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream. oh lawd.

We are using mat on this box because its such a simple surface that we are working on and we need the strength, so mat was the best choice. But, when we do the doors and door pods we will be using cloth! It's not hitting anywhere near as hard as it realistically could, but I am getting a half way decent amount of flex out of the car, and under the very right conditions we got mini hair tricks haha!
