The next morning I got a delivery. More parts from Summit Racing. They've saved my ass on this build. Great service, good prices, super fast shipping. Course it helps I'm only about 3 hours from their Nevada facility, but whatever.

And a new radiator, since the other one was in pretty rough shape.

Back to the timing cover.

Back to the timing cover. Since it's all ready to go on, I started getting the gaskets ready to go on. Super Blue Silicone will do that nicely.

Here it is in place. I had to clean some of the silicone up. Didn't want any where it shouldn't be.

Next I added some to the outside of the gasket to go between the timing cover and the gasket.

Also added some black silicone for the oil pan and gasket.

ARP Bolts for the timing cover and water pump. Let me just say this. When I bought this kit I was so excited about it. All new bolts, and all black, and it would be nice and easy and make such a clean look. I was wrong. Most of these are not the right size. Most are too short. So at the end of the day, I ended up using most of the bolts I had for the timing cover and water pump. I wanted to get new stuff, but I just couldn't locate any hardware for it. I'll see what's out there some other time. About $250-300 I could've saved myself I'm sure.

After alot of fighting it, and probably removing it and redoing it about 4 times, it's finally on, and tight. I did manage to use some of the ARP bolts, but there are some originals on there as well.

But i had to keep going after all that frustration. Time for the water pump. More blue silicone.

And with the original bolts, it's on. Everything is torqued down to spec, and all looks good. Of course I have no fluid to put through it yet, so I'll just have to wait, and hope, and see that there's no leaks. Cause that would suck.

Those bolts will be addressed btw. No way I'm leaving those without color.

Lets get back to the valve covers.

Rubber washers from home depot for the valve covers.

Hand tight for now. They need I think 10lbs of torque according to the book.

After torquing them down, the washers roll up on the ends. Not a big fan of this, it looks bad. I'll probably address this later on.

Close up of what it does.

Got some hose to go from the water pump to the intake, and some new hose clamps.

All that hose, and I only needed this much. But, they only sold it by the foot.

For this little connection here. Sheesh.

Then I got the clamps on. After I got the clamps on I noticed a mistake I'd made. So in the interest of transparency and showing everyone that I'm just learning how to do this as I go, I'll let you in on the mistake. I didn't take pictures of it. However, inside that threaded hole on the left side of the hose I just installed, goes a little neck for another hose. Well the hose connection on that neck, makes it an "L" shape. Well it hits the timing cover. So instead of taking the timing cover off, and going through that BS all over again, I took the intake off and put it on that way. Easy fix, but man that could've been bad. One step forward, two steps back.

Getting ready to get the external balancer on now that the timing cover, seal, etc are on now.

Applied a thin layer of lube and it slide on for the most part. I ended up having to clean the inside of the balancer a little bit. But it went on pretty easily.

Got the insert in to keep it in place. There are no bolts that hold this on, or spring clips, or anything like that. The crank bolt which holds the harmonic balancer on is what holds this in place along with this insert.

New key insert. The other one was from the old set, so I removed it and put this one in.

LUUUUBBBBEEEEE on the shaft!!!

Got the new balancer on, and bolted down. Bolt torqued to spec.

Next it was time for the pulley. Not new, but it got a cleaning and some paint. ARP Bolts again.

Obviously wasn't thinking about this one. Missed painting the inside on it. Ooops. I'll fix that.

Ok, lets work on that throttle body next.

Ports are filthy.

Flaps are filthy. Removing those two screw on each flap will remove them.

Gasket has some oil to the outside of it in one corner. Interesting. Not sure what that means.

Flaps removed, now it needs to be cleaned. Let's see, where's my wife's toothbrush at?!

Flaps will sit in the parts washer for a nice bath too.

Much better. My wife has a nice toothbrush. Well, had a nice toothbrush.....hehehehe

Time for some painting fun with Scooter!

Thermostat neck ford blue. This color just pops off the black. Really happy with it.

Timing point. Needed some help bad. She's black again. I thought about painting it another color but I don't think it would work, I don't know enough to know and I don't want to have to do it over again.

This is a metallic grey. The pictures don't do it justice, because it has a real nice metallic look.

Got the vacuum trees on, and the new sensors on.

Nice picture of the front, well, just because I was happy with it so far and felt like it needed a picture to be taken. See the neck on the left side there on the intake, above the water pump. Remember that was the piece I had to put on, the mistake. LOL.

Time to put those beautiful injectors on and the fuel rail. I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.

Let's put the Throttle body etc back together.

As you can see, ARP Bolts, got a new Idle air control valve, and the throttle position sensor is fairly new as well.

So that's where I'm at today. This weekend hopefully I can get the surroundings put on it, and then do the vacuum lines and get close to starting her up. That might be a stretch though. STill lots of little details to deal with.
