94 Ford Beast-350 OBS CCLB - Motor is done, need to sell, questions-please help

Recommended Posts

What do you mean? I RTV'd all around the timing cover, backing plate, water pump, the two outlet spouts coming from the timing cover and then water pump, and even did the thermostat housing and thermostat neck. Intake is done too.

The part that's leaking is the hose itself where it goes on one of those spouts. It's the one, OF COURSE, that's going into the thermostat housing, which doesn't come off without taking the timing cover, and water pump off.

However, I believe the problem is, I used the cheapo hose clamps that are like bands, and I need the spring clamps like what was on them when I took it all apart. I thought I saved those in the box of screws etc, but I'm not seeing them anywhere. These hose clamps I bought, are not strong enough to hold them. This is literally the only leak and only issue I'm having so far.

I'll be stopping off on the way home from work to see if I can get a spring clamp instead, and actually I'll get one for both heater hoses too. No reason to use one on one of them and not both.

Unfortunately, I broke my internet at home somehow. After uploading all of those pictures this morning, I load them onto Facebook and the drag and drop them here, my internet went down and I can't get a tech out there until Thursday sometime. So, I don't know when I'll get the pics over here.

If you want to check them out now, you can see them at: Ford Beast 350 Engine Makeover

I know some of you hate to go over and look at facebook, and that's not what I'm going to leave it as. I'll get them over here, I just have to wait until I'm on a computer I can do that on. I don't have time to do it at work, and I'm training tomorrow, so I won't be here anyway. But if you want to see them, they're on my Facebook page that I just linked, under Engine Makeover.

Thanks for checking this out.

Thanks.

Little update, still no internet service. They're supposed to be there tomorrow around noon to fix it. So as soon as I get service again, I'll start posting pics and videos.

I'm so excited, I've driven it a couple of times around the block and she drives fantastic. Haven't really wanted to push it much, just doing normal driving. At least that's what I read on what you should do after a rebuild. But I'm guessing that's with pistons etc replaced too. Remember I just did the top end, so maybe that doesn't apply. Just a little gun shy, since I'm not experienced here.

Tomorrow I'll be going to the dump in the morning to empty her out. She became a kind of catchall while she was on the side of the house. LOL. Then I'll see what happens after that when she's empty again.

Time to start getting into the F250 now. I'm planning and have ordered some stuff for a special project so we'll have to wait and see what that holds. That will be in the other thread though.

Thanks everyone, hopefully tomorrow I'll have pics up.

The lower intake on front and back has water jacket ports to transfer fluid from head to head across the intake. Aka intake gaskets. The water ports on the intake gaskets is what I was getting at.

I wouldn't figure a hose clamp is gonna cause a leaking issue ive seen the neck themselves pit away and leak. From corrosion. Not hose clamps. Could try the hairspray method before taking it all apart again lol

I drove it around all day yesterday and no leaks. So I got it stopped. It's got so much more power than before I started this thing. Even before the gasket blew, I just did not have this kind of power in it. It flat out goes now! So happy!

Internet is back up, so I'll try and get pics up tonight and finish this thing off.

I picked up a bunch of plasti-dip yesterday too. Gonna make her look nice and get her ready to sell.

Ok here goes. PICTARS!!!!

So for the last two years, up until about 6 months ago, I've been dealing with real bad pantar fasciitis. When I'm on a ladder it's really really bad. So I had been on a ladder for the previous 2 weeks helping a friend with his house, and had been working off of a 4ft ladder to do this truck. It started coming back, so I picked this up from Home Depot. Man what a lifesaver for $50. It's a platform, workbench, can use it as a furniture dolly, or a creeper. The top, orange, flipps over and it's got an mdf smooth side with some numbers and angles etc for a workbench. This thing may be the best thing I've bought in a very long time.

It also has a spot on the end there that you can connect electrical if you need it. But this is where it resided most of the time. I used it as a creeper too. That was pretty damn handy.

Also picked up some new air hose. Put on a 3/8" end and made a 3/8 to 1/4" whip for other tools. The 3/8's is being used for my air impact gun. Big difference.

Ok let's get to work. Time for the headers. Using this copper spray a gasket sealant to help the gasket stick and seal.

11802598_773309919444807_779490908029063

Sprayed both sides of the gasket

11794601_773309946111471_660387972490667

as well as the block

11229846_773309972778135_354266394043343

Then bolted the header on. That was a tough job. I forgot I pulled the header after the heads and covers were off. This was a bear to get in this way. But I managed.

11816157_773310016111464_850487792829946

Part of the Emissions system, getting some copper spray on it too.

11850635_773310136111452_557350413776795

More emissions.

11728928_773310156111450_207024207191192

This was a pain, because it had to go in behind the motor and down to the other set of headers.

Got the brackets on, and the Stage 8 tabs and clips (on the spring) are about to go on.

Driver side, basically the same process.

I did have to trim this up a little bit. The previous bolts, were a bolt with a nut on it, and then another bolt on top that this bracket was held down to with a bolt. So it probably sat about 1/4" to 3/8" higher previously. With the new bolts, it's just a bolt. So the edge, on the left side of the bracket, hit the head cover.

EGR valve spot.

EGR Valve ready to go home.

Got that on, and the tube that goes down to the headers tightened up.

Coil, Emissions stuff, and whatever else that went on this bracket. If you look close, you can see where I took the edge off of the bracket below the coil there. There's about 1/4" of clearance there now.

I was putting the A/C pump on and I decided it needed a little touch of love. It just didn't look right next to everything else that's been painted and cleaned up.

Just gotta put the A/C lines back on and that part will be done.

That side is pretty much done.

11875135_773311569444642_818685045649576

Alternator bracket, Smog pump (gutted), and Alternator are next.

11055398_773311642777968_556863175436746

It goes on the left side head.

11807328_773311699444629_714769232840375

again, I put the alternator on the bracket, and it was in bad need of some help. So, let's help it out.

Took the case bolts out.

11816332_773311969444602_420281395191176

And let the fun begin!!

11145076_773312056111260_870296472677845

So this is the end result. It took some serious work to get these all apart. But I managed to do it. Basically what I had to do was use a sand filled mallet, and hit the case where they meet in the center and hit all around each ear (where the bolts go through) until it came apart. Once that was done, getting the center pieces out was pretty easy. You can find all kinds of videos on youtube for this.
