scooter99
I primed and painted the case next. Alternator bracket and smog pump on, and ready for the new alt. That was the end of that night. I waited for the alt to dry a bit. The next morning I decided to switch gears a bit, and get some stuff finished up. I got all the tabs on the Stage 8 Header Bolts. These stop the bolts from backing out, or at least all the way out. New Spark Plugs ready to go in. Sorry for the blurry pic, but it's basically the same as the other side. Tabs and clips ready to go in. Those are on, as well as the new spark plugs on the driver side. Time for the new Ford Racing 9mm Spark Plug Wires. These are so nice in person. scooter99
8, 7, 6 plugs 5th plug. The wires are all numbered. Limits the confusion at the distributor cap, unless of course you put a wrong numbered wire on the wrong plug lol. No I didn't do it, but I was constantly aware of it. Driver side on. But those wires won't do like that. That's better. Little wire management goes a long way to dress up a motor. Same treatment done to the passenger side. Note - they are not left on the head like that. I adjusted them so they are not resting on them. Coil wire on. and the rest ran to the center ready to be connected. Back to the alt. Got the power pin protector on. Time to slide it all back together. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
scooter99
That alternator tensioning bracket needs some love. Of course we don't want to spray any of the blue with the black. Oh that's much better! Got the alt put in too. Looks so much nicer. Time for the distributor, rotor and cap to go in. This actually took quite a bit of work to do. I used a couple of 1/4" extensions with a 5mm socket, I think it was, and taped them all together because at this point I don't need to tear anything apart because I dropped a socket down in there. But I just kept adjusting the oil pump stick a little and kept trying the distributor until it finally slid in. There were a lot of adjustments after that as well. Didn't quite sit right. But after a while, I got it where I needed it. The new ARP hold down nut, washer and the old bracket that was painted black. This used to be a sky blue. That wasn't going to do for me. so black it is. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
scooter99
Again switching gears, as you can probably tell I bounced around alot during all of this. I'd paint something or do something that needed time, or I'd be missing a part and need to run to the store and get it. But instead I made a list, and just kept on so I could get work done in the time I had to do it. Battery tray back in. Needs color! That looks better. While that dried, the cover for the distributor had dried and so I put it on. Rotor. This is where I ended up having to adjust a little bit. Then the cap went on. Look at this fluster cluck! That won't do. What can we do about this!? Oh yeah, that's much much better! God I love wire management. Re routed the passenger side wires. Off the head, remember I said that earlier. Driver side. Things are getting there. Showing lots of progress! So somehow, this harness got a little beat up. There's that big hole in the plastic covering, although no wires were harmed. It was brittle as all get out too. It needed help. So I removed it. The spot where the taped wire is, was there. I think it's some kind of fuse or something. There's a second one up near the connector. After wrapping it in some 2" electrical tape, I decided to put some new wire loom on it too. scooter99
Then i retaped all of the rest of it. I also removed the brackets due to the bolts being changed out on the motor itself. There were no more spots to hold them. Got it all ran, and all plugged into what was available to be plugged in. Wasn't real thrilled with how bunched in the driver side looked, but after looking at the before pictures, it's basically the same way. I'll have to try to let it go. LOL Then I got the main connector bolted in. Recall from the before pics, it connects and there's a 10mm bolt that goes all the way through that brings them together. Oil dip stick back in. scooter99
Oh look, more emissions stuff. I used some new tubing however. Smog Pump hose, 1 of 2 Smog pump hose 2 of 2 Not a great pic, down in there somewhere. It's actually to the left of the middle. It's just where the hose goes, nothing exciting. Short hoses connected and hose 1 of 2 connected. Both hoses for the smog pump, and the hose from the emissions cluster connected. scooter99
Heater hoses connected. This was a mistake by the way. As you could see from the previous picture, I had the constant pressure clamp on there, and for some reason I took them off, and I couldn't find them after that. I may have thrown them away, I don't know. But I used hose clamps thinking they'd work. We'll get back to this later. New upper radiator hose. More emissions. The new hose is on there in the center. Not much to see really. Connected here. Those would be screws for the wheel well liner. Yep, we're that far. It's time to get the liners on, and wheels on, and start buttoning this thing up. Passenger side on. This is about the time I started really second guessing myself. Such great easy access from in here. I knew once I put this on, I'd have to take it off again. But here it is. For those that don't know and are asking why there's a big hole cut in the liner there. Previously I had to large XS Power D6500 batteries in here in a custom battery tray. I needed to cut that out in order to get them to fit. Now it's back to the stock tray. So that's why the hole is there. This is where the emissions canisters go. scooter99
Yet more emissions. Ready for the driver side liner. Liner in and buttoning the electrical up. Oil breather tube. Goes here under the oil cap. The silver tip. And here on the air intake box. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
scooter99
This goes on the vacuum booster behind the master cylinder and then in behind the throttle body. Here it's connected although not a great view of where it is. This is a close up. This is a better idea of where it's located on the throttle body. Time for a new fan. This big ole heavy thing. I didn't buy a new fan clutch though. Not sure why, but it's too late now. It does need some dressing up though. New lighter fan vs. old heavy fan. I got the clutch all put on and decided nope that won't work. Looks terrible. Put the pulley on and readied it for the fan. scooter99
Lower radiator hose on. For those who don't know, I removed the oil cooler and put on a dual filter relocation kit. You can see it there in the background behind that hose. SO this is not the normal lower radiator hose for this motor. Now that's much better! Clutch is all painted up and looks nice black! Let's get it on. Looks good in place. Well for now, I had to pull it since I did all of this prematurely. LOL . Need to get the fan shroud in there first before the fan can go on. Oh well, lessons being learned on the fly here. Now, i didn't want to spend a fortune on silicone hoses. So I picked up some hose from the auto store, and that's what all this is. But this won't work, I can just see it getting all tangled up and pissing me off. So let's fix that. Had a reel left over from some techflex from some previous audio builds. That worked out perfectly. Hung it from the center of the hood for easy access with a few zip ties. Now, let's get to work. There was a split for one run. Had to improvise. Used the old split, put new hose on it. Then put some heat shrink on it to keep it in place. That'll work.
