sbg Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 I hooked up a friends belva 5000d today in my car. Because he keep telling me that its so much better then my brz2400. Well yes It was a bit louder to the ear.but I heard my sub's bottom out. Witch has never happened before with my brz2400. After playing a few songs and then clamping the amp. We got 1500w with rise to 3 ohm 12.5v. So I started to think about why my sub's bottom out with his amp. When his amp was not putting much more power out then mine. And is not even 1/2 power of the subs. All setting were the "same" from his amp to mine. Only thing was his amp had a bass boost frequency on it. With the bass boost its self was off, and the frequency was all the way down, I think its 30hz all the way down. So my question is even with the bass boost off could it still have been boosting the 30hz frequency so when I played the song that was 29hz up it made the sub bottom out? And would putting the frequency up to say 45-50hz help? Weigel21 Posted June 11, 2014 Report Posted June 11, 2014 Your setup is ported, was the subsonic filter set to 30-35Hz with that amplifier? How did you go about setting the gain? Could have been clipping for all we know. BTW, I'm not sure how it could be louder with the same or even a less powerful amplifier. Yes, the Belva isn't going to produce any more power than the Hifonics you were running and in fact, I'd be willing to bet it doesn't produce but 2K at most without distortion/clipping.
