Hds2-15

Recommended Posts

Im planning on doing a very budget build for my santa fe. Space isnt a issue for what i want i have plenty of room.

Im looking to do a build with 2 Hds200 15's and will have about 2500watts on tap & before rise & voltage drop(dont feed me the go to a different sub stuff please). I looked at the SQ website but i just gives a vague information on the enclosure sizes for the subs, also the port info is given in slot ports. Im just trying to gather info for these subs and determine a good size enclosure for them as well as the port(in aeros). Any info that you guys have for them or experience with them is much appreciated. What im aiming for is a good mix of daily and SPL, more leaning toward the SPL side which is why i tune around 37hz usually(its my medium of the 2).

What i have came up with so far is this, you may critique me if you like:

2 Hds200 15's
Soundstream Ta1.3k wired to 1ohm(rated 2500)

Enclosure Dimensions:
40-L x 21-H x 20-D
8.04 cubes internal gross vol

Subs Displacement- Hds215 = .11ea (.22 total for 2)
Aero Port Displacement- 1-10" aero @ 12" = .55

Internal Cubes Net(after subs & port) - 7.27

1-10" Aero = 78.5 sqin of port
Roughly 10.797 Sq-inches of port per cube

Cubes Net Per Sub - 3.635

Tune - 37hz

I would go with more net space at least 8 ft3 and a possibly more port. Would like to see the end result, may be getting a couple of these soon.

the reason for mine being on the smaller side is because im going to be running about 1k to each sub so a bigger box wont control the sub as well. The smaller box will the subs a better ability to handle the power(it wont actually increase rms just handling). So thats why im at 3.635 per sub after displacements

Ok I don't have my pc with me but why don't you try 2 x 8" ports? I think for 2 15" subs you need a good amount of port area. And isn't around 3.5ft3 the recommended volume for the rated power of those subs??

not sur

CJ on Soundqubed's chart it just says 2 15's 9 ft3 and 144" squared for vent. My suggestion of 8 ft3 is smaller than their recommendation.

i use aero ports not slot ports. Also if you look at the the box for 3cubic feet it also says 1-15 on that line for the 3cubic feet enclosure as well
