Splatter Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 So I've been wanting to start BIG long term project now that I am content with my unnecessary multi-thousand dollar water cooler gaming PC it's time for me to move onto some bigger. My plan is to turn my 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 Ext Cab into a "Street Beast" this will eventually into a 800hp daily driven street monster that will eventually involve me swapping out my current 5.3L V8 in for a Built 6.2L LS3 Corvette engine but that's not until wayy later down the line. For now, I'm breaking up the "Street Beast Project" into several sub projects that makes everything much for me to keep track of. Currently I have; (Please don't hate on my current setup lol I just went to the audio shop and said I wanted 'functional' and that's what I got) FRONT; Crossfire 6.5" Door Speakers running off the head unit (Kenwood 255-U) REAR; Stock door speakers PowerAcoustik Crypt Series 600W Amp *On sub* Kenwood 250W 12" Sub But this is what I will be replacing everything with! Let me know what you guys think NEW BUILD 2014; I'm keeping the head unit, I like it. (Kenwood 255u) *Note, these prices aren't final* Rockford Fosgate Power T1652-S 6.5" Power T1 Component Speakers Rockford Fosgate Power T1462 4x6" Full Range Coaxial Speakers Rockford Fosgate P400X4 Punch 4-Channel Amplifier (Might change) Rockford Fosgate P3D4-12 Punch P3 DVC 4-Ohm 12-Inch 600-Watt RMS 1200-Watt Peak Subwoofer (X2) Rockford Fosgate Power T1500-1BDCP 1500 watt mono amplifier (Subs) Rockford Fosgate 363 Digital Signal Processor with OEM Integration Capabilities SMD Distortion Detector SMD OM-1 LED Sound System Output Monitor (X3 Mounted under A/C controls) I have a BOX being built and it should be here some time next week. I just went ahead and ordered a custom box to fit underneath the rear seats) http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_62592_Ground-Shaker-NCHVP-2-12.html This is by far the shittiest sub box I have ever seen but I got it for free from a friend. It's supposed to be sealed but there's a massive gap where the terminals are and it just pushes a bunch of air out. I just called it ghetto ported. This is just a shot I took today after vacuuming and wiping everything down with Armour All wipes. You can't see from the picture but there's a area beneath the AC controls that I think would be a perfect spot to mount the OM-1 Output meters.
hazestorm23 Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Good start what are you doing with electrical?
truthsayer Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 Be carefull on that box from sonic. In the specs it say's for 10''. truthsayer
Splatter Posted June 5, 2014 Author Report Posted June 5, 2014 Yeah I noticed that too truthsayer before I bought it but I think it's just a typo, because it also says the sub cutout shape is square lol so I'm kinda hoping it goes by what's on the item description. and I'm going with a 16 AWG for the speakers and 4 AWG for the subs. I already have one of my two subs but too bad it won't fit into the box I have now, it sticks out about a half inch haha so I'm gunna need the sub box and amp before I can really move forward
