slo-noma Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 First time building a ported box and looking for advice/thoughts on what I've come up with. 3.2ft^3 tuned to 35hz according to Torres if I did everything right. It will be getting 2-10" Infinity Kappas. Any thoughts or ideas would be helpful. Thanks
mothra Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 why such a huge box? those call for roughly 1 cubic ft per sub ported. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
slo-noma Posted June 5, 2014 Author Report Posted June 5, 2014 The tech sheet that comes with it recommends 1.5ft^3 @ 30hz http://manuals.harman.com/INF/CAR/Technical%20Sheet/Kappa100_9W_TS_Eng.pdf Going in a 99 Sonoma x-cab.
nickricciotti Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 if i did my math right that box is only 2.3cuft after port displacement
mothra Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 The tech sheet that comes with it recommends 1.5ft^3 @ 30hz http://manuals.harman.com/INF/CAR/Technical%20Sheet/Kappa100_9W_TS_Eng.pdf Going in a 99 Sonoma x-cab. thats gross volume not net. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
slo-noma Posted June 5, 2014 Author Report Posted June 5, 2014 my torres printout says 3.2ft^3 gross and 1.95ft^3 net. this is why i'm asking because the spec sheet doesn't really specify net or gross and i don't really have much of an idea on ported boxes
mothra Posted June 5, 2014 Report Posted June 5, 2014 since you're new to building boxes I'd use a single 4" aero port and build to rough 2 cubic ft net. much simpler to figure out enclosure size. if nothing changes, nothing changes You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know
