brent379 Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 in the process of upgrading the subie. going to be fiberglassing 2 sets of crescendo cz 6.5 compents in the front doors and running them active. powering them will be the crescendo s800/4. and im about 99.9999% sure ill be replacing my double din with the deh-80prs question is... since the amp has the phase multiplier switch which will allow you to run active pretty much just off that...and the 80prs has way better crossover/slope settings...what is the best way to start tuning the amp?? do you set you crossover points on the amp then match the crossovers on the deck with the amp and just further adjust the slopes? or just switch both channels on the amp to all pass and use the deck for everything??
Jessica Posted June 13, 2014 Report Posted June 13, 2014 i would use one or the other. If you use both you have to figure out what slope you want to use, like if the amp has 12db/octive and you use 12db/octive on the amp then you have a 24db/octive crossover. You can run into all kinds of weird phasing issues doing that because a crossover changes the phase of a speaker dependent on what the slope is. Then you can run into cancellation and standing waves and so on. The prs is pretty versatile. Ty using its crossovers and slopes and levels and so on first. then resort to the amp if you cant get what you want. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. brent379 Posted June 13, 2014 Author Report Posted June 13, 2014 it is very versitile! i would feel more comfortable using the deck rather then the amp because i can adjust the slopes. that amp is 12db/oct and cant adjust that lol. just wasnt sure about this so i figured it would be best to ask first before messing up brand new components lol. thank you very much!
