The DEH-80PRS can be had for a little less than $300, but I'm thinking $270 shipped is still more than you are comfortable paying.

Truthsayer, how's Clarion's HU's these days? I tried to use one back in 99', but it was a turd. Well, that's not entirely true, it wasn't bad, except for the fact that a CD had to be PERFECT for the damn thing to read it. Buy a new CD and just look at the damn disc wrong when putting it in the stereo and it'd refuse to read it. Seriously, the SLIGHTEST smug or scuff mark and it wouldn't read a disc.

Now that's not the case with a DMR, I'm just curious on their overall quality, Seems Clarion's prices have dropped quite a bit over the past 5 years or so. Did they get bought out or something?

And that model listed looks to have some nice features, just not so sure "I" am feeling the display, 3K limit on USB storage, or the remote, but the EQ, Time Alignment, ability to operate in an active 3-way crossover, as well as the 5V preamps look nice.

Doesn't appear the unit is Android compatible, so probably no controls via the HU for any android devices connected to it.

You spoke of using your phone through USB, what is the make of your phone? Is it an iPhone or an Android? Some HU's still don't support android and in such, they won't even recognize it if you connect it via USB.

Oh, and would you prefer front or rear USB? Or would you prefer having both?

Front would be fine and it's a iphone 5

Well to answer your question. I used to run Pioneer, ( 20-30 yrs ago i had clarion) since i had run clarion in the past , thought i would try them again, since amazon always has a killer price.

Well i couldn't be happier, sound quality is unmatched. I will never go back to pioneer after getting this Clarion. Their are a few other members on here, that swear by their clarion also. I'm running the cz501 now for about 3 yrs or so with zero problems. I absolutely can atest to this being the best HU i have had in a long time.
