If the speakers are 4 ohms like I'm guessing they should be around 4 ohms...

Thanks alaskanzx5 I might just do that
I can recone a sub myself. About a year ago I took 2 12" power acoustic mofos and made one sub. I took the magnet and the motor off of one and j b welded it to the other motor and magnet. I had to wind my own voice coil so it would work. After I was done hooked up to 2 boss 5000w amps. And shattered my back and all my side windows

came to this thread to recommend soundqubed and ct sounds. OP goes with soundstream.

oh lawd.

Is your alt still charging at 12.x in drive? Your alt should be charging at 14.4v even if your car is in park and at idle. I'm not sure what would cause that but I know someone on here will. As for the speakers just get a 4 channel amp and run the front and rear speakers through the amp and that should fix that problem. I know their mid grade speakers (I have some in my rear doors) are rated at 40 or 50 wrms which is way more than what the HU is putting out. Just look online for amps and I'm sure you can find something you like.

  • 3 weeks later...

the first thing i would start with based on the last video is to take apart your connections at both the alternator and the battery and clean those connections good.

I myself, after doing that, would then start 1 by 1 turning things on and off to see once if any 1 thing has an affect .

From what i see there, My GUESS is that you may have an alternator or some wiring that is in the early stages of failing. But, that's just a guess.

That all being said, I still cant for the life of me figure out why you'd be losing all volume from the HU. In the past, I have ran batteries pretty much dead and still was able to play music.

Another thing that bothers me,The readings you got with the DMM when checking dc resistance of the speakers. I do have a very inexpensive DMM here along with a better one. Even the cheap one i get consistent readings off. And reading of 20+ ohms??

I think it will be interesting to see what ALL problems you find in this. It is my belief that you have several things going very wrong in that vehicle.
