ewatson1234 Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 Ok so I just got 2 12" Mclass subs. They are dual 2ohm rated at 300 watts RMS ea. The audio shop I bought them from told me I can run 600 watts RMS to them all day long. Im using a 1600 watt Hifonics amp. I have them wired parallel @ 2 ohms. So 1200 watts to them. They are in a downfire labyrinth ported box. Im so paranoid of blowing them now. Can anyone tell me if Mclass subs are truly underrated or any advise ?
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted July 11, 2014 Report Posted July 11, 2014 Well first if they are wired parallel would be at .5 ohm. The subs may take slightly more then rated if it's clean power in the right box but not double that's for sure. Is the store you bought them from going to warranty them if you blow them? That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
ewatson1234 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Report Posted July 11, 2014 Yes full warranty. And im sorry I have them wired down to 2 ohms at the amp. They hit really hard. If I wire them 4ohms I can give them the ratted RMS but I dont think they will sound as good. Im very limited on space. These were the best subs I could find with a mounting depth of 5.5 inches.
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 If they are going to warranty them then I'd beat em till they die. If you are wired parallel you would be at .5 ohm in order to wire to 2 ohms you would need to be wire series parallel there is no way to wire two dvc 2ohm subs to a 4ohm load on a mono amp. Your options are .5 ohm, 2ohm, and 8ohm. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
