Port Help?

THIS IS NOT MEANT AS A VS THREAD......I running 2 SQ Sdc2.5s, the enclosure will be around 3.75 cubes(so 7.5 net after displacments) ill say i what im aiming at. i think i read that a good rule of thumb is 8-12 squares inches of port per cube when using aeroports(WHICH I AM USING). My plan was to use 1-10" aeroport in that size of enclosure which would give me 10.x inches per cube, but then i was told that may be to small of port. So i started thinking of 2 8's.

Just looking for some insight

thanks

According to the info you have given you should be ok with that port. The area for a 10" port is 78.6in2 and with 7.5 cubes net you get 10.5in2 per cube. I see nothing wrong with that unless you using big subs. What size subs were you reffering to at 1st??

i can not, for the fucking life of me, understand why everyone wants to use less port area with an aero port, than they would in the same box with a slot or square port. aero ports are just crazy efficient, and people are completely disregarding that efficiency by using less port area with them.

fuck me running.

and btw- generalized "rule of thumb" with ports is just a fancy way of saying "i have no clue how to accurately design an optimal enclosure, but i read on the internet that this broad range of port area will still be somewhat functional"

I thought that was the original intention of Aero ports? To be able to run less port area without getting port noise. So that you are able to get to your desired tuning frequency without having a super long port(s).

Several systems, several vehicles. Always changing!

well obviously, you could do that with any type of port. a black plastic tube with a flare on the end doesnt have it own laws of physics....

For 15 inch subs I try to keep a minimum port area of around 48 square inches. This is just a suggestion but for that 10 inch port I would prefer two 12s. Right now I am actually running a single 15 with a 10 inch port, so I think two 12s will do.

2 12" Ports? na thats WAY to much port area. I have actually figured out a way i can run 2 8" ports so im gonna do that to up the port area some. 2 8's = 100.48 sq-inches

I Meant 12" subs lol. Two 12" ports would work nicely on four 15s in a wall though :P . Anyway back to business two 8s would be perfect for your setup. Let us kno your progress :)
