Arnold55 Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 Recently purchased 2 sundown sa12s and decided to give them a listen today. Im waiting to get a custom enclosure so I used a sealed prefab box I have thats 1.8 cft3 per sub. I have a 04 Mitsubishi Galant with all stock electrical. I decided to run them at 1ohm to a db drive a7m 1250, and it did not sound right nor loud. I then took both subs out and ran them at 2ohm individually . It sounded much healthier and the amp did not warm up as much. So I'm just wanting to make sure this is the car needing more power correct? or could it be something with my subs or amp. Thanks for any input.
evermaxx Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 d2 or d4 subs? yeah its gonna sound like ass in a sealed enclosure. Team Subsonic Lows Get your garbage EMF products of my amp bitch Man....it makes a nice work bench
FknCrawler Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 If he wired them to 1ohm they would have to be D4s. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=2&I=42#results 1992 Honda Civic CX Hatchback K24a2 Swap
Arnold55 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Report Posted August 10, 2014 d2 or d4 subs? yeah its gonna sound like ass in a sealed enclosure. d4 subs, Its just weird that its louder when they are ran at 2ohm, they are only getting 300 a piece. I guess the sealed box is just suffocating them at 1ohm? It only got a little louder when the gain was way up but the amp got really hot and I'm sure clipping was involved.

Arnold55 Posted August 10, 2014 Author Report Posted August 10, 2014 are you sure they were in phase? when both were wired up? They were moving together however i didn't check anything mechanically. I did have a couple of cvrs in there right before this and they were d4 and I had those wire separately as well at 2ohm. The sundowns get as loud as they did just a lot lower in the same box same power. Im hope its just a hungry amp and the electoral just needs to be upgraded and nothing is wrong with the amp of subs. Now that I think of it, I may have had the wires opposite at the amp and box
evermaxx Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 how are gains set? you keep saying 2ohm, do you mean 2ohm at the amp or per sub? 2 d4 subs cant be wired to 2ohm at the amp. Its either 4ohm or 1ohm. Team Subsonic Lows Get your garbage EMF products of my amp bitch Man....it makes a nice work bench
t-money Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 no problem. just double check all + and - connections are correct. 2002 ford focus hatch pioneer DEH-P8400bh infinity kappa 6.5 components front and rear XS Power D1200 Shuriken BT-100 audioque 120.4 2 15 inch audioque HDC3 D2 2 audioque 2200d big 3 mechman 220a alt with external regulator 479-418-3056
BigManAC Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 If one was running opposite of the other that would make it sound bad. Also even if your amp is stable at one ohm it will still run a lot hotter than at 4 ohm. 2001 Saturn L200-Sony MEX-BT4100PFRONT STAGE:- (4) Crescendo PWX 6- Cadence XA250.2SUB STAGE:-Fi Audio BL 15 (Sealed Off)-Crescendo BC2kELECTRICAL:- Singer 240A alt - XS Power D3400- SkyHigh OFC power/speaker wire- Big 3 with SkyHigh 0gaugeBuild Log: Click HereScores: 146.5db @ 29hz Outlaw
