Which component is causing this...?

kenwood will output max voltage around volume 33. but thats useless if you have your headunit powering your speakers, because the internal amp clips at anything over like 26. so keep it where it is if your stuff is hooked up like this.

So it, usually, sits at 2V or less?

Current Setup: 2002 Ford Focus SE (stock electrical)

-Kenwood Excelon KDC-X397

-Infinity Kappa 6x9's in each door

-Rockford Fosgate Prime R1200-1D

-2 12" Rockford Fosgate P3D2

Backups:

-12" Power Acoustik Mofo-122X in 36hz T-Line box

-Soundstream Piasso P1.1200D

i dont know what the preout voltage is at X volume for a headunit. if you're worried about gains, buy or find somebody with an oscilloscope or dd-1.

a dd1 is really your only hope Man. but at clean power your sub should take that amp all day! i had a boy with that exact sub on a 2000w rf amp. i told him it was way (way) to much but that sub took it for a year. he traded it and last i knew it was on a 1500w sound stream still going

well if it can handle 2000w rf it should be able to take a 1200 soundstream lol

i should mention it was a old school rf amp. i didn't think it was gonna last a week. And am i no way recommending anyone to put that much power to that sub. also box and electric have allot to do with power handing. so there's my disclaimer. but your power should be fine.. work on.good electric to carry it and a better box

YEP 2V TO 8V

You suggest I put set it at 2V-8V?
